Rocco’s Record Impressive in November
In his eight seasons as a head coach, the Spiders’ Danny Rocco has posted a record of 20-4 (.833) in the month of November. At Richmond, Rocco is 6-0 in the month, including a perfect 3-0 mark in 2012.
Spiders Against Ranked Opponents
Dating back to the start of the 2007 season, Richmond has posted a record of 22-19 against ranked opponents. Richmond’s last win against a ranked opponent came last week when the Spiders came from behind to beat No. 21/22-ranked Delaware, 46-43. The last time UR defeated ranked teams in back-to-back weeks was during the 2009 season, when the Spiders beat William & Mary in the regular season finale and then Elon in the playoffs.
Strauss Earns CAA Honors For Second-Straight Week
After helping lead the Spiders to a come-from-behind, 46-43 victory at No. 21/22 Delaware last week, QB Michael Strauss was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week. Strauss completed 35-of-46 passes for a school-record 543 yards and school-record tying five touchdowns. The past two weeks, Strauss has completed 63-of-84 (75.0) passes for 903 yards, 10 touchdowns and one interception with a quarterback efficiency rating of 202.20.
Barnette Surpasses 1,000 Yard Mark
Last week against Delaware, WR Stephen Barnette became just the fourth Richmond receiver to surpass the 1,000-yard mark in a season. Barnette leads the CAA and ranks seventh in the nation with 1,099 receiving yards this year. His total ranks Barnette third all-time on the Richmond single-season list, just 88 yards shy of Tre Gray’s school record of 1,187.
