Richmond?s Edwards Named To Senior Bowl Watch List

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond Spiders senior WR Ben Edwards was named to the Senior Bowl Watch List announced on Wednesday.
The list includes the nation's top seniors and NFL prospects from around the nation, as the top 100 seniors in the country will be invited to participate in the 2013 Senior Bowl, scheduled for January 25, 2014 at Mobile’s Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
"Last year, the inaugural Senior Bowl Watch List included 312 prospects with 94 total players ultimately being drafted from our game," said Senior Bowl Executive Director Phil Savage. "With 60,000-plus athletes playing college football, and only 250 or so NFL draft choices each year, we believe there is some legitimate prestige with being placed on our 'official' Watch List."
Edwards has reeled in the preseason accolades this summer. The senior wide receiver was named a Third-Team Preseason All-American by Beyond College Sports, Fourth-Team Preseason All-American and Second-Team Preseason All-CAA by Phil Steele honors earlier this month. Edwards was also named to the CFPA FCS Wide Receivers Award Watch List and CFPA FCS Punt Returners Award Watch List.
The Yorktown, Va., native started all 11 games last season and collected five postseason honors, including First-Team All-CAA. Edwards led the league with 80 receptions while totaling a team-high 852 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
