Postgame Quotes: Maine 28, No. 20/22 Richmond 21

Maine Head Coach Jack Cosgrove
Opening Statement…
“We’re proud of our red zone defense. We practice it. We preach it. We think it’s a premium. It ends up being why we’re sitting here on the plus-side today. We were very impressed with Stephen [Barnette] and Ben [Edwards]. This game was back-and-forth. Our trips down here have been exciting.”
Richmond Head Coach Danny Rocco
Opening Statement…
“We are disappointed in the result of the game. We certainly give Coach Cosgrove and his kids a lot of credit for what they did today. I had a lot of kids make plays. I thought a lot of our playmakers showed up to play today. Ben Edwards’ performance was outstanding. Stephen Barnette was very dynamic. We did churn out 400 yards today. Our defense had a good game plan, but we were never able to take control of the tempo. We have some good players. We have a lot of work to do in the open date.”
Senior WR Ben Edwards
The offensive in second half…
“We will sustain a long drive and get a touchdown. Then there are other drives when we go in and we’re three-and-out. We’re too up-and-down. We have to be able to take it to the next step offensively. That’s something we’ll address in the off week. Today we hit some rough spots.”
Senior DB Reggie Barnette
Defense to become more consistent…
“We need to tackle better. Our defense and execution is there it’s just making that big play. It’s what we’ve struggled with this year. It all comes down to execution in the end and we’re not doing that."
