Rocco Faces Familiar Foe
Richmond head coach Danny Rocco will face his former team for the second time this Saturday, but the first as the visiting head coach in Lynchburg. Rocco was the head coach at Liberty for six seasons, helping the Flames win four Big South titles while posting a record of 47-20.
Rocco vs. the Big South
During his nine seasons as a head coach, Danny Rocco has had tremendous success against the Big South. Over his six seasons at Liberty and his three at Richmond, Rocco is 30-6 (.833) against Big South teams in his career. Rocco is 4-1 against the Big South with the Spiders.
Non-League Brilliance
Richmond has lost only one non-conference FCS game in the regular season since 2005, going 20-1 since then. The only setback during the stretch was a 12-10 loss at Gardner-Webb on September 14, 2013. Including the Spiders’ annual game versus an FBS opponent, Richmond’s non-conference regular-season record since 2007 is 18-7 (that includes wins at Duke in 2009 and 2011).
