Spider Football Gameday Central - Elon
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The No. 16/17 University of Richmond Spiders football team will travel south to North Carolina to face CAA foe Elon at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
The contest will mark only the fifth meeting between the newly-minted CAA rivals. Richmond holds a 4-0 record against the Phoenix in a series that dates back to 1928.

Spiders Move Up In National Rankings
With its 37-0 win over Rhode Island this past Saturday, the Richmond Spiders moved up in the latest national rankings. UR moved up three spots to No. 16 in the Sports Network Poll released Monday and also moved up three spots to No. 17 in the FCS Coaches Poll.
Richmond Defense Blanks the Rams
The Richmond Spider defense had its best game of the season against Rhode Island on October 18, blanking the Rams, 37-0. The shutout was the first for Richmond since beating VMI, 34-0, on August 31, 2013.
Stephen Barnette Suffers Career-Ending Injury Vs. URI
Redshirt-senior WR Stephen Barnette suffered a career-ending injury against Rhode Island on October 18. Barnette ends his illustrious career with the Spiders ranked second in career receiving yards (2,844), tied for third in touchdown receptions (17) and fourth in receptions (197).
Spiders Force Six Turnovers in Win
The Richmond Spiders defense forced Rhode Island to commit six turnovers in a 37-0 win over the Rams on October 18. The six turnovers forced are the most for the Spiders since the team forced seven against Rhode Island on November 13, 2010.
Michael Strauss Out For Season With Ankle Injury
Redshirt senior QB Michael Strauss will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury suffered at UAlbany on October 11. Strauss ends his career with the Spiders ranked third in career completions (603), third in career passing touchdowns (46) and fourth in passing yards (6,663). Last season, Strauss set 14 game or season passing records for Richmond.
David Jones Does It All Against Rhody
DB David Jones was all over the field in Richmond’s 37-0 win over Rhode Island on October 18. Jones finished with three tackles, a fumble recovery and two interceptions – one of which he returned 34-yards for a touchdown.
