Postgame Quotes ? No. 13/14 Richmond 10, No. 3/4 Villanova 9

“Obviously real excited about the result, thought it was going to be a close, hard fought game and it was. I expected a higher score, but a close game. Certainly we needed it more than they did and this is certainly a signature win for us.”
-- Richmond head coach Danny Rocco
“I thought it was a signature win for our season. I'd say the same thing for me personally. We beat JMU here two years ago and I'd say that one was as well. But I think this one here today keeps us relevant moving forward. I think our players really believe we would find a way to win today. Fortunately, we got a couple breaks and were able to finish it off.”
-- Richmond head coach Danny Rocco
“I have a good team, there's no doubt about that. We just need to keep our nose to the grindstone and remain focused. “
-- Richmond head coach Danny Rocco
“I thought it was a really tough, hard-nosed college game, they played a little harder than we did, their defense did a great job holding down our offense. They put a good pass rush on us, and we chased them around a bit. We had some opportunities and dodged some bullets as well. Our defense was fantastic, gave us a chance to win the game. I think Richmond is a really good team, and playing here I felt like we really had to come up with a good effort. “
--Villanova head coach Andy Talley
“They played better than us on defense, and a little better than us on offense, and that seemed to be enough. Strange game. A lot of mistakes on most sides. Kind of one of those old time ugly games that could've gone either way at the end, but they were better than us in the 4th quarter. “
--Villanova head coach Andy Talley
“The game lets us know that we are in control of our own destiny. We know we can make the playoffs, it's all about finishing. We showed today that we can finish. We definitely let people know that we can beat people who we aren't supposed to.”
-- Richmond LB Omar Howard
“It's a team win, and the defense played great. We put up a pretty good production on offense, we just need to get better in the red zone and I put that on my shoulders, and we just need to keep working.”
-- Richmond QB Michael Rocco
“I tried to catch up to him first, and I was just able to get up. I was checking him initially, and he was jogging, and then he cut and went up and I had to catch him. When I turned around, I tried to locate the ball and saw I had a good position. From there he pretty much threw it to me. I turned around and at first couldn't find it. Then it was pretty much just right there.”
-- Richmond DB Ayo Ogunniyi on his interception
