Spiders Earn At-Large Bid To FCS Playoffs
After defeating No. 19/22 William & Mary on the road, 34-20, the Richmond Spiders earned an at-large bid to the 2014 FCS Playoffs. The postseason appearance is the ninth in program history and the first since 2009.
Postseason Success
The Richmond Spiders are no strangers to postseason success. Dating back to the 2007 season, the Spiders are 7-2 in their last nine playoff games – including winning the National Championship in 2008.
Spiders Earn 12 All-CAA Honors
The Richmond Spiders had 12 student-athletes named to the All-CAA teams on Tuesday. RB Seth Fisher, OL Austin Gund and DL Evan Kelly headlined the dozen honorees for Richmond, earning First-Team honors. The 12 all-league nods were the second-most behind only New Hampshire and the most for UR since 2009.
Dynamic All-CAA WR Duo
WR Reggie Diggs and WR Brian Brown have provided a great, 1-2 punch for Richmond this year. Diggs, a Second-Team All-CAA honoree, ranks second in the CAA in receiving yards (885) and third in receptions (69). Brown, a Third-Team All-CAA honoree, is third in the league in receiving yards (873) and fourth in receptions (65).
Rocco’s Impressive Record in November
