Spider Football?s Gund Earns All-American Honor

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond senior OL Austin Gund was named a Second-Team All-American by College Sports Madness on Wednesday.
Gund, a three-year team captain, becomes the 78th Spider to earn All-American honors in program history. Under head coach Danny Rocco, Richmond has earned a total of 10 All-American accolades in three seasons.
Gund, who was named to the CSM All-CAA First-Team, was also tabbed a First-Team All-CAA honoree for the second-straight year by the league’s coaches last month. An anchor at center, Gund helped lead a Richmond offensive line that surrendered a CAA-low 12 sacks this year.
Along with Gund, seven other Spiders earned All-CAA accolades from CSM on Wednesday. WR Reggie Diggs and DL Evan Kelly joined Gund on the all-conference first-team, while WR Brian Brown, PK Peter Yoder, LB Eric Wright and DB Reggie Barnette were all named Second-Team All-CAA. LB Aaron Roane rounded out the honorees, being named third-team all-league.
The No. 16/18 Richmond Spiders will travel south to face the No. 6/6 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Saturday, December 6. Kickoff in Conway, S.C. is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
