Spider Football Practice No. 12 Report

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Spiders football team continued its quest for a 2014 CAA Championship on Thursday when the squad hit the field for practice No. 12 of training camp.
The Spiders, practicing in full pads, continued to install first and second down review in its first practice of two today on a hot, sunny day in Richmond.
The squad will hit the field for its final two-a-day later this afternoon at 4 p.m.
Practice Notes
- An hour into practice, the Spiders did their first team session with DB Mylon Blueford coming up with a big pass breakup to prevent a long pass from QB Michael Strauss to WR Stephen Barnette.
- The defense continued its swarming coverage, when DB Dominique Miller caught an interception from Strauss, a long ball toward the endzone intended for WR Rashad Ponder.
- The next play, RB Jacobi Green responded finding a huge hole down the middle that was good for many yards to get the offense going.
- DB Tafon Mainsah broke up another pass, this time from QB Kyle Lauletta that was intended for TE Christian Conklin down the left sideline.
- WR Porter Abell closed the final team session with a diving catch from Strauss for huge yardage down the left sideline.
Post-Practice Quotes
