Spiders Look To Extend Home Opener Streak
With its 34-0 win over VMI last season, the Richmond Spiders extended their home-opener win streak to eight. At Robins Stadium, the Spiders are 4-0 in home openers, winning by an average margin of 22 points.?
Spiders Ranked No. 20/24 in the Nation
The Spiders are ranked No. 20 in the nation in the Sports Network poll. In other preseason polls, Richmond is ranked 12th in the nation by Sporting News, 18th by Athlon Sports, 23rd in Lindy’s Preseason Poll and 24th in the first FCS Coaches Poll.?
Strauss Named To Payton Award Watch List
QB Michael Strauss was one of 20 student-athletes named to the Walter Payton Award Watch List, which is awarded to the most outstanding player in the FCS.? Strauss enters the 2014 season coming off the greatest season for any Richmond quarterback in program history.? Last year, Strauss set or tied 14 school records, earning Third-Team All-CAA honors, ranking second in the nation in completions (333) and fifth in passing yards (3,808).
