Richmond Football Adds Pair Of FBS Transfers

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond Spiders head football coach Danny Rocco announced the addition of two FBS transfers on Friday – DB Lemond Johnson and DB Kameron Jackson.
Johnson comes to Richmond from the University of Tennessee and will have two years of eligibility remaining, while Jackson transfers to UR from North Carolina with one year of eligibility. Both will be eligible to play in 2015 for the Spiders.
“We are very excited to announce the addition of both Kameron and Lemond to our 2015 roster,” head coach Danny Rocco said. “Both players expressed a very sincere interest in the University of Richmond from the very beginning of the transfer process. They both enjoyed outstanding high school careers along with having gained valuable experience at the BCS level. I am confident that they will add great value to our program and be in position to make immediate contributions this fall. They both have position versatility to go along with good size and athleticism.”
For the Volunteers, Johnson appeared in 14 games in two seasons, including 12 during his freshman year. The Cooper City, Fla. native totaled three tackles, all in 2013.
Coming out of Cooper City High School, Johnson was rated three-star prospect by Rivals, Scout and 247Sports, who also rated Johnson as the No. 51 safety prospect in the nation. In high school, Johnson played both safety and wide receiver and was ranked as the No. 170 wideout in the country by Scout.
Jackson was a three-year contributor for the Tar Heels, appearing in 21 games with one start at safety. In his three seasons, Jackson totaled 18 tackles, 10 solo, with one tackle for loss.
The Madison, Ala. native was highly recruited out of Madison Academy, as Jackson was ranked the No. 37 prospect in Alabama by Rivals.com. A three-year letterwinner, Jackson earned first-team all-state honors as a defensive back in 2010.
