RTD: Spider Football Engaged In Community Service

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. ? On Tuesday, over 40 members of the University of Richmond Spiders football team went to Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond to volunteer with CARITAS.
The members of the Richmond football team served a meal to a group of 40 homeless men. After the Spiders cleared dishes, they spent time with the men playing cards and board games, watching TV, or just talking.
The 40 men were guests of the church as part of CARITAS (Congregations Around Richmond Involved To Assure Shelter). Through this week, they sleep and eat at the church, and are provided shower facilities at the Tuckahoe YMCA. They are also involved in job searches and educational programs.
