Spider Football Practice No. 8 Report

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The No. 18-ranked University of Richmond Spiders football team continued training camp on Thursday morning at Robins Stadium with the team’s eighth practice.
Thursday’s practice was a lively one despite the heat at Robins Stadium. The team returned to full pads after being in shells on Wednesday, working on review and down and distance situations.
Practice Observations
- QB Kyle Lauletta and WR Brian Brown connected on one of the longest plays so far in camp, as Lauletta threw a great ball downfield to Brown for a 45-yard reception.
- The two also connected later in 11-on-11 team drills on a 30-yard reception after Brown made a great move at the line of scrimmage to get free.
- RB Gordon Collins continued his solid play at training camp on Thursday, reeling of a slashing run that went for 25 yards.
- Defensively in 11-on-11’s, DB Dominique Miller intercepted freshman QB Kevin Johnson, while DB Brendan Coniker made a diving pass breakup over the middle.
- WR Porter Abell had a good day catching the ball in team drills, bringing in a catch in traffic for 18 yards and also grabbing one for 15-yards later in practice.
