Richmond Football To Open At Home In Front Of Sellout Crowd

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond football team will open its 2015 home slate in front of a sellout crowd at Robins Stadium next Saturday (Sept. 19, 6 p.m.) when it welcomes VMI for the 90th meeting between the two programs.
The all-time series favors the Spiders who have collected 44 wins against 40 losses with five ties mixed in. Richmond has won 22 of the last 25 meetings and the win total includes 31 home victories and 11 consecutive positive results dating back to Sept. 20, 1997.
The Spiders are ranked No. 22 in the nation and have lost only one non-conference FCS game in the regular season since 2005, going 21-1- since then. The only setback during the stretch was a 12-10 loss at Gardner-Webb on Sept. 14, 2013. Including the Spiders’ annual game versus an FBS opponent, Richmond’s non-conference regular-season record since 2007 is 19-8 (that includes wins at Duke in 2009 and 2011).
Richmond fell at Maryland in its season-opener last weekend and will head to Hampton for a Noon start tomorrow looking to even its record before returning to Robins Stadium for the home opener.
The sold-out game will be produced and televised live by SpiderTV, airing regionally on Comcast SportsNet-Mid Atlantic Plus (channel finder) and locally on WTVR-TV 6.3 (Comcast 206; Verizon Fios 466), as well as streamed live on RichmondSpiders.com and the Spider Mobile app.
Tickets for Spider football are on sale now and available through the Richmond Ticket Office in person or by calling 1-877-SPIDER-1 (1-877-774-3371). Fans can also purchase tickets online by clicking HERE.
