Non-League Brilliance
Richmond has lost only one non-conference FCS game in the regular season since 2005, going 21-1 since then. The only setback during the stretch was a 12-10 loss at Gardner-Webb on September 14, 2013. Including the Spiders’ annual game versus an FBS opponent, Richmond’s non-conference regular-season record since 2007 is 19-8 (that includes wins at Duke in 2009 and 2011).
Kyle Lauletta Debut
In his first career start, QB Kyle Lauletta set career highs in completions (18), attempts (30), yards (220), long pass (52) and rushing touchdowns (1). His four-yard touchdown run in the second quarter was the first rushing touchdown of his career. Lauletta spread the ball around as well with six different receivers catching at least two balls. His favorite targets were Brian Brown and Jacobi Green who each caught four while Reggie Diggs and Dashon Tibbs nabbed three. Tyler Wilkins and Porter Abell each caught two passes.
Green Shakes Lose
RB Jacobi Green made the start against Maryland on Saturday afternoon and picked up 23 rushing yards on seven attempts with a touchdown. Green’s touchdown in the first quarter was the 13th of his career and the eighth rushing score of his career. He also caught four balls out of the backfield for 40 yards.
David Jones Does It All
Redshirt-Junior DB David Jones had an outstanding afternoon on Saturday, collecting nine tackles and a spectacular interception on a deep ball down the right side. The pick was the fourth of his career and his nine tackles were by far the most in a single game in his career with the previous high being six, which he achieved on three occasions.
Career Tackling Day
Eight defensive starters at Maryland either matched or exceeded their career-high tackle total for a single-game. David Jones (9), Brandon Waller (6), Winston Craig (6) and Jarriel Jordan (4) all exceeded their career-best totals while David Herlocker (7), Trevor Jones (4), Charles Mack (2) and Trey Moore (2) matched their career-best totals.
