Green Set to Play in NFLPA Bowl This Weekend

CARSON, Calif. – While most of the Metro Richmond area will be secluded to their homes this weekend, senior Jacobi Green of the University of Richmond football team will be putting his talents on display in front of hundreds of pro scouts at the NFLPA Bowl on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills at the StubHub Center.
The game will be shown live on ESPN2 at 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 23.
Green is one of just 23 FCS players being featured at the event, which is now in its fifth season. He is one of four running backs featured on Team American, which is led by former Super Bowl Champion Mike Holmgren. Green will be working with former NFL Rookie of the Year Cadillac Williams, who is the running backs coach for Team American.
The Jacksonville, Fla. Native ran for 1,563 yards this past season, which ranked fourth in a single season in Richmond history. His 21 rushing touchdowns were a program-record and his 22 total touchdowns ranked second all-time behind Tim Hightower’s 23 in 2007.
He burst onto the scene with a 236-yard, five-touchdown performance at James Madison on Oct. 24 and has never looked back. He has rattled off seven-straight performances of 100 or more yards and a second 200-yard outing opposite William & Mary in the regular season finale. He ran for 137 yards last weekend at Illinois State in the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs and contributed four touchdowns to guide the Spiders to a 39-27 victory and berth into the semifinals for the first time since the 2008, National Championship season.
Founded in 2012, the annual NFLPA game gives prospective NFL players the best opportunity to showcase their talents to potential employers and fans. In 2015, over 200 scouts from every NFL club and other professional leagues attended the event.
Participants participate in four days of workouts and conduct interviews with NFL scouts, player personnel staffs, GMs and Head Coaches. The student-athletes are given the unique opportunity to network with and learn from current and former NFL players.
