Brown, Evans Recognized By TD Club of Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. – The senior class of this year’s University of Richmond football team has piled up the third most wins (35) by any class in program history.
The Touchdown Club of Richmond recognized two of the leaders of that senior class, Brian Brown and Thomas Evans, among the state’s best players this week. Brown was named the state’s best Offensive End (WR/TE) and Evans was named the state’s best offensive lineman.
Brown, a Richmond native, will go down among one of the best players to ever put on a Spider uniform. He ranks as the program’s leader in receiving yards (4,159), receiving touchdowns (23), 100-yard games (20), catches (243) and single season leaders in yards and TDs as well.
This year, Brown earned his third All-CAA honor by leading the league in receiving yards, TDs and catches. He is expected to post his second straight season with All-American accolades.
Evans is an emotional leader for the Spiders and has started nearly 40 consecutive games for Richmond. He was an anchor to an offensive line that led the Spiders to the top passing offense in the CAA and one of the top offenses in the country. He and his linemates blocked for three different 100-yard rushers this year when injuries riddled the Spiders’ backfield.
The senior duo will lead the Spiders into Cheney, Wash. to take on the second-seeded Eagles of Eastern Washington on Saturday in the FCS Quarterfinals. Game time on ESPN3 is set for 4 p.m. EST.
