Trau Named Wells Fargo Athlete of the Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – While he may not be the biggest in stature, Griffin Trau has played a pivotal part of the success of this year’s University of Richmond football team.
This past weekend, Trau connected on two field goals, including the game-winner as time expired to send the Spiders to the FCS Quarterfinals with a 27-24 win over seventh-ranked North Dakota.
His game-winning field goal not only sent Richmond home victorious, but also tied the CAA record for field goals in a single season with 23, which also extended his school record, which was previously held by Andrew Howard with 19.
He has the most points ever by a kicker in a season in program history with 111 thanks to 23 field goals and a perfect 42-for-42 on extra points for the Spiders.
Last month, he earned All-CAA First Team accolades for his performance this year.
