Waller Named CAA Defensive Player Of The Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Two weeks, two awards.
The University of Richmond football team brought home a CAA weekly award for the second consecutive week, this time it was on the defensive side of the ball with junior defensive end Brandon Waller taking home the defensive player of the week award.
Waller was part of a dominating defensive effort in which the Spiders held Norfolk State to just 122 yards of total offense, the fewest allowed in a game by Richmond since 2008.
The Spiders’ defense posted the first shutout since October 18, 2014 when Richmond shutout URI, 37-0, at Robins Stadium.
In the contest, Waller was the leading tackler with nine, which also set a career-high for the Ardmore, Pa. native.
He combined with Charles Mack for a sack, as well as chipping in 2.5 tackles for a loss, along with two QB hurries.
Waller and his teammates open up CAA play this upcoming weekend when they travel to Stony Brook. Kickoff on Saturday is set for 12 p.m. on American Sports Network.
