Goodall takes home CAA Rookie of the Week Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – For the third time in four weeks, a member of the University of Richmond football team earned weekly accolades from the CAA.
RVA native Xavier Goodall was this week’s recipient, being named CAA Co-Rookie of the Week after a breakout performance in the Spiders’ 38-31 win over #23 Colgate on Saturday afternoon in front of a sellout crowd at Robins Stadium.
“I really credit my teammates and my line for giving me the confidence to go out and perform to the best of my ability. Without those guys letting me know they believed in me, I wouldn’t have been able to have the success that I had,” Goodall said.
In Saturday’s win, Goodall had 20 carries for a career-high 127 yards, including his second career touchdown. He became the first Spider freshman since 1991 to rush for over 100 yards (Uly Scott).
Goodall also set a record by reaching 100-plus yards in just his fourth game as a Spdier, becoming the quickest to ever accomplish the feat in program history.
For the season, Goodall has 201 yards rushing and 46 yards receiving. He is averaging 5.7 yards per carry.
Richmond returns to action this Saturday when it hosts Towson in a critical CAA matchup. Game time at Robins Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m.
