Marc Bacote enters his second season coaching the wide receivers on Russ Huesman’s coaching staff. Bacote led the Spiders’ receiving corps last year that accounted for over 3,000-yards receiving in 2017.
Bacote led three wide receivers to All-Colonial Athletic Association honors last year with Dejon Brissett earning First Team honors while Tyler Wilkins and Cortrelle Simpson picked up Second team accolades. All three ranked in the top four in the CAA in receiving yards, the top six in receptions and the top seven in receiving touchdowns.
Bacote joined the Spiders after spending two seasons on the defensive side of the ball as a safeties coach at Hampton University. He also spent three seasons on the staff at Old Dominion as cornerbacks coach. He helped the Monarchs appear in two FCS playoffs in 2011 and 2012 while being part of the staff when ODU transitioned to FBS in 2013.
Bacote also spent time on staff at Rutgers, Morehead State, the Apprentice School and his alma mater, James Madison.
As a player with the Dukes (1997-2000), he was a wide receiver on the school’s first-ever conference championship team and graduated with a degree in kinesiology. He played professionally five years in arena football.
