2023 marked Trey Caso's third season at Richmond on Huesman’s staff working with the tight ends. During Caso’s first year on staff, he helped Connor Deveney become one of the top tight ends in the CAA. Deveney caught 16 passes for 159 yards and two scores. In 2022, Deveney caught 10 passes for 77 yards and three touchdowns under Caso's guidance. In 2023, Caso's tight ends accounted for 282 receiving yards and six touchdown receptions, led by Brooks Heagarty with three.
In 2023 Caso's tight ends helped the Spiders rank ninth in the country in completion percentage 24th in pass efficiency, 11th in passing touchdowns, 23rd in first downs and ninth in fourth down conversion.
Caso worked directly with the Liberty offensive line, creating weekly scouting reports on each opponent and heavily involved with offensive line recruitment. Liberty’s offense averaged 38.2 points per game in 2020 while rushing for 252.4 yards per game. The Flames ranked 18th in the country in scoring offense and ninth in the nation in rushing offense in 2020.
Caso spent a year at West George as an offensive line coach in 2018. He helped West Georgia post a 10-2 overall record and advance to the NCAA Division II playoffs. The Wolves ranked No. 37 in the country in rushing offense (197.9 yards per game and No. 28 in scoring offense (35.1 points per game. He spent the 2016-17 year as a student assistant coach at West Georgia.
Caso is a 2018 graduate of West Georgia with a bachelor of arts in mass communications. He played football at Liberty in 2014, part of the Flames team that won a Big South Championship and appeared in the NCAA FCS Playoffs before transferring to West Georgia for the 2015 season. He helped the Wolves to a Gulf South Championship as an offensive lineman in 2015 and an NCAA semifinal appearance.
