- Played in 11 games, missing the Jacksonville (Aug. 29) game.
- Recorded six tackles, two solo and four assisted.
- Posted three tackles against No. 25 Elon (Sept. 14).
- Played in 10 games making one start.
- Recorded seven tackles, one solo and six assists.
- Made his collegiate debut at Virginia (Sept. 1).
- First career tackles against Fordham (Sept. 8), with three assists.
- First career interception in the win over Fordham.
- Added a pair of tackle assists at Albany (Oct. 13).
- Recorded a solo stop against Villanova (Nov. 3).
- Redshirted.
- Payne will join a former high school teammate when he steps on campus, having played two seasons with rising junior QB Kevin Johnson at Pace Academy.
- He's a big, strong body who played the safety position at Pace, as well as lined up in the backfield on the offensive side.
