Madison Carter

Madison Carter joined the Spider women's lacrosse program in July of 2021 after one season at Mercer University. At Richmond, Carter will work with the attacking and draw units.
While at Mercer, Carter helped the improve the Bears’ defense and draw specialists. The 2021 Southern Conference Tournament Champions finished with a 7-8 record and earned an NCAA Tournament berth taking on nationally-ranked Florida in the first round.
Prior to Mercer, Carter was an assistant coach for Integrity Lacrosse Club in Davidsonville, Md., for five years.
Before making the move into the coaching realm, Carter was a member of the Penn State women's lacrosse team from 2016-2020 under head coach Missy Doherty. In her five years in Happy Valley, she ranked fifth in Penn State history with 197 goals and seventh with 218 points, becoming the 15th Nittany Lion to reach the 200 mark. She also led the squad to three NCAA Tournament berths, including two Final Four appearances.
In 2016, she was named the BIG Ten Freshman of the Year, the first for Penn State women's lacrosse. Carter earned IWLCA All-America honors in 2017 and 2018. From 2016-18, Carter was named to the All-BIG Ten Team and to the IWLCA All-Region Team. She was named to the Tewaaraton Award watch list in each of her final three seasons.
