Whitney Sikes Named Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer co-Rookie of the Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond women's soccer player Whitney Sikes (Gastonia, N.C./Forestview) was honored as the Atlantic 10 co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending November 4. The freshman helped lead the Spiders to a 2-0 record over the weekend.
Friday night Sikes was a major contributor in Richmond's 3-0 blanking of St. Bonaventure. She tallied a goal and an assist on the evening to help keep Richmond's Atlantic 10 Tournament hopes alive. The Spiders would then come back the next day to post another road victory, this time over Duquesne, 1-0. Sikes improved her season statistics to two goals and two assists after Friday's performance.
The two wins clinched the third seed for the Spiders in the upcoming 2001 Verizon Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championships. Richmond will face La Salle on Friday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Kingston, R.I.
