Post-Season Atlantic 10 Honors Abound for the Spiders

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Atlantic 10 has announced its Women's Soccer All-Conference Team as voted on by the league's head coaches. Selected to the first-team were senior goalkeeper Kristen Samuhel (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) and sophomore midfielder Edda Gardarsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland/Breidholt).
Senior forward Laura Gincel (Princeton, N.J./West Windsor) and midfielder Meredith Johnson (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) were tabbed to the conference's second-team. In addition, freshman Ella Thorsteinsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland/Mennatskolinni) was named to the All-Rookie Team.
Samuhel posted a .800 save percentage this season, an .868 average against Atlantic 10 competition. She recorded a goals against average in 18 games of 1.27 and .63 in the conference's eleven contests. Gardarsdottir along with Samuhel anchored a defense that posted eight shutouts. The Iceland native scored three goals and added two assists this season for the Spiders.
