Before heading to the bright lights of Las Vegas, the Spiders must first go through Cincinnati. The first round of the Las Vegas Classic takes place at on-campus sites. Richmond (3-3) hits the road this weekend, traveling to the Buckeye State to face the Cincinnati Bearcats (7-1) Monday evening at 8:05 p.m in Shoemaker Center.
The Spiders look to snap the Bearcats seven-game win streak and halt their own three-game skid. The Las Vegas Classic has an interesting format which divides the eight-team field into two pools. Teams will play the other three teams in their respective pools. Championship-round opponents will be determined by results of the first three games played or defensive points allowed. The Spiders next play Mississippi State on Thursday and Louisiana-Monroe on Friday at Valley High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. Competing in the other pool is Illinois-Chicago, Purdue, Southwest Missouri State and Texas A&M.
