Kristen Samuhel and Bret Myers Earn Academic All-Conference

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, VA. -- University of Richmond seniors Bret Myers and Kristen Samuhel both earned Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference honors as voted by the league's sports information directors.
The Spiders' goalkeer, Samuhel earned First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors after posting a 1.31 goals against average and a .794 save percentage. She started all 20 games, making six shutouts.
A Chapel Hill, N.C. native, Samuhel was named to the Soccer America Magazine team of the week and earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week during the second week of September.
Samuhel was a 2000 NSCAA Second Team scholar athlete. She carries a 3.46 GPA while majoring in biology.
A native of Richmond, Va., Myers played in 21 games this season, making 18 starts. He tallied three goals, including one gamewinner, and dished seven assists. The forward ranked second on the team in scoring with 13 points. During his collegiate career, Myers scored 15 goals and tallied 21 assists.
A 2000 National Soccer Coaches Association of America scholar-athlete regional honoree, Myers carries a 3.49 grade point average with a major in accounting.
