Stevenson Tabbed CAA Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond senior forward Greg Stevenson (Fayetteville, N.C./Fayetteville 71st) has been named the Colonial Athletic Association's Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. It is the third time this season he has earned the honor, the most of any player in the CAA.
Stevenson paced the Spiders with 29.5 points on 61.1 percent (22-of-36) shooting from the field in the team's two games last week versus conference foes American and George Mason. In addition, he collected 10.0 rebounds and shot 63.6 percent (7-of-11) from three-point range for the week. In Wednesday's 73-32 win over American, Stevenson tallied 25 points and 10 rebounds on 9-of-17 shooting from the field. He also recorded two steals and two blocks. In Saturday's 77-57 victory over George Mason, he delivered his ninth double-double of the season, a 34 point performance on 13-of-19 shooting from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 from behind the arc. In addition, he snared 10 rebounds and dished out two assists.
The 6-6 forward leads the Spiders and the conference in scoring with 19.6 points per game. He is also tops in the conference in three-point field goal percentage accuracy, shooting .500 (44-of-88), 15th best in the nation. Stevenson is the only player in the CAA to be ranked in eight individual statistical categories: fourth in rebounding (7.8 rpg), fifth in field goal percentage (.526) and steals (1.35), eighth in free throw percentage (.763) and ninth in blocked shots (.92) and three-point field goals made (1.69 a game).
Stevenson and the Spiders travel to cross-town rival VCU on Tuesday, February 27 to wrap up its regular season. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
