Kiser Joins Spider Football Staff

Richmond, Virginia - University of Richmond head football coach Jim Reid has added Jimmy Kiser to his staff as offensive coordinator.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, and a 1979 graduate of Furman University, Kiser was the quarterbacks coach at Memphis University this past season. He spent 14 years at North Carolina State University and was offensive coordinator from 1997-1999. The Wolfpack led the Atlantic Coast Conference in rushing offense in 1997 (178.8 yards per game) and was second in total offense. NC State led the ACC in passing offense and total offense in 1998.
Kiser was an all-conference wide receiver during his senior season at Furman. He earned a master's degree from Clemson University in 1982.
The Spiders begin spring practice on Friday, March 23. Richmond has 16 starters and 48 lettermen returning from last season's 10-3 squad. The Spiders were ranked #6 in the nation in the final I-AA poll. Richmond won a share of the Atlantic 10 title and won its first round playoff game against Youngstown State 10-3. Richmond opens the 2001 season on Saturday, September 1 at Virginia.
