Chiaravalloti, Pritz Named Second Team All-CAA

Richmond, Virginia - University of Richmond sophomore first baseman Vito Chiaravalloti and freshman outfielder Bryan Pritz have been named Second Team All-Colonial Athletic Association in a vote by the league's head coaches.
Chiaravalloti is a native of Middletown, New Jersey and a 1999 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy. He is one of two Spiders to start every game this season. Chiaravalloti leads the conference with 17 home runs. He is second in the CAA with 60 RBI and third with 59 runs scored. Chiaravalloti batted .328 this spring with 13 doubles and one triple. He twice homered in five consecutive games, setting a school record. Chiaravalloti was named CAA Player of the Week and National Player of the Week earlier this season. Chiaravalloti was also a Second Team All-CAA selection as a freshman.
Pritz is a native of Wilmette, Illinois and a 2000 graduate of New Trier High School. He started all 53 games in centerfield for the Spiders this season. Pritz leads the team and is ninth in the conference with 76 hits. He tops the Spiders and is third in the league with 22 stolen bases. Pritz is second on the club and seventh in the CAA with 52 runs scored. He batted .349 this season with five doubles, four triples, three home runs and 29 RBI. Pritz led with Spiders with 26 multiple hit games and had a nine-game hitting streak during his rookie campaign.
Under head coach Ron Atkins, who completed his 17th season at the helm of the Spiders, Richmond was 27-26 this spring, its 11th winning season in the past 12 years.
