UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. (June 18) -- Coach Bob Foley's University of Richmond Spiders will face five schools coming off NCAA tournament appearances in its 2001-2002 women's basketball non-conference schedule released today.
The Spiders open up the 2001-2002 campaign on the road at NCAA participant Virginia Tech on November 16 before coming home to entertain ACC opponent Virginia on November 19. Richmond then heads to the Virgin Islands for the Virgin Island Shootout before a home contest with state rival William & Mary. Three road games, two of those with ACC foes and the third at cross-town rival VCU, highlight early December for the Spiders. Richmond entertains last year's Big South conference champion Liberty Flames before competing in the St Peter's Holiday Tournament on December 29 and 30.
"We are excited about the great challenges presented by a demanding non-conference schedule," said Foley. "It should prepare the team for our inaugural season in the Atlantic 10."
