Spraker, Farrar Named To Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference First Team

Philadelphia, Pa. - Senior defensive lineman Josh Spraker (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) and senior offensive lineman Ken Farrar (Peabody, Mass./Peabody) have been named to the 2001 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference First Team. The team was announced at the annual Atlantic 10 Football Media Day in Philadelphia, Pa. The voting was done by coaches and media.
Five Spiders were named to the second team: senior tight end Mike Millard (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown), senior offensive lineman David Pustylnik (Brooklyn, N.Y./Poly Prep), senior defensive back Jason Hill (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern), senior defensive back Chad Blackstock (Ridgeway, Va./Magna Vista) and junior linebacker Mark Thompson (Fayetteville, N.C./E.E. Smith).
Richmond was picked to finish fourth in voting also done by coaches and media. Delaware received 11 first place votes and was the preseason choice as league champion. Newcomer Hofstra also garnered 11 first place votes and placed second. Villanova earned five first place votes and came in third. The Spiders picked up two first place votes and was fourth in the overall voting.
Jim Reid's Spiders begin practice on Saturday, August 11. Richmond opens the regular season on Saturday, September 1, with a 4:30 p.m. contest against the Virginia Cavaliers in Charlottesville.
