Men's Basketball Drops Decision To Xavier, 72-62

CINCINNATI (AP) - Roman Sato scored a game-high 20 points and David West added 18 as Xavier pulled away late in the game to beat Richmond 72-62 Saturday for its sixth straight victory.
Sato was 7-of-12 from the field and West was 5-of-9 for the Musketeers (11-3, 3-0 Atlantic 10).
Sato scored five points in a 9-1 run to give Xavier a 59-47 lead with 6:01 left, its biggest lead in the game. Richmond (7-8, 1-1) then went on a 12-2 run, keyed by two 3-pointers by Jeff Myers, to pull the Spiders within 61-59 with 2:15 left.
Sato hit a layup to break the run and then Xavier hit 7-of-8 free throws to finish the game.
Xavier shot 52 percent from the field to 42 percent for Richmond.
Myers scored 14 points as all five Richmond starters reached double figures.
Scott Ungerer had 13 points, Johnathan Collins scored 12, Reggie Brown had 11 and Mike Skrocki added 10 for the Spiders, playing Xavier for the first time.
Lionel Chambers scored 14 for Xavier, which now has its longest winning streak since winning 10 in a row in 1998-99.
