UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
The Philadelphia Alumni Chapter invites you and your guests out to see the Spiders for their Phialdelphia debut in the Atlantic 10 conference. The Spiders play Temple Wednesday night January 23rd. Tip off is 7:30 at the Liacouras Center.
The Owls, coached by Hall of Famer John Chaney, advanced to the Elite 8 of last year's NCAA Tournament. Richmond and Temple have not met since the 1991 NCAA Tournament, when the Spiders shocked Syracuse in the opening round before dropping a 77-64 decision to the Owls.
Wednesday evening's activities begin with a pre-game gathering at The Draught Horse, 1431 Cecil B. Moore Avenue (next door to the Liacouras Center - 215/235-1010) from 5:30-7:15. Tickets for the game may be purchased for 15 dollars through the UR Athletic Ticket Office by calling (804)289-8388 and using Visa or Mastercard.
And, if you're a fan who likes to listen to the game while at the game, bring your FM walkman!
You'll be able to hear the live play-by-play call from the Spider Broadcast Team of Bob Black and Greg Beckwith (UR's all-time assist leader) while in the arena. The game will be transmitted on an FM frequency available only inside the Liacouras Center. The FM frequency (usually at the very low or very high end of the FM dial) will be determined the morning of the game and posted on this site. It will also be available at the pre-game event at The Draught Horse.
Also, be sure to mark your calendar for the Spiders second Philadelphia appearance, Saturday February 16 vs. La Salle at Tom Gola Arena. Tip off is 6pm.
