Women's Soccer Plays UVa to a 1-1 Draw

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-The University of Richmond and Virginia Cavaliers played to a 1-1 tie on Tuesday night at Klöckner Stadium. The result moves the Spiders' record to 4-2-2 while the Cavaliers move to 5-3-2 on the season.
After a scoreless first half, the Cavaliers got on the board early in the second half. Less than a minute after the break, midfielder Kelly Hammond was taken down in the box. Senior Kelly Worden converted the penalty kick to give Virginia the lead. In the 64th minute, the Spiders would answer as Annette Isham (Denver, Colo.) scored on a breakaway set up by Jessica Marino (Poland, Ohio). In overtime, the Cavliers outshot the Spiders 9-1, but couldn't come away with the win. Megan Cox was busy between the pipes, recording 12 saves.
