DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Richmond dropped its second straight Atlantic 10 contest, falling to the Dayton Flyers, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at Baujan Field. The Spiders fall to 6-4-2, 3-2-0 in A-10 play while the Flyers move to 4-1-0 in the A-10 and 10-3-0.
Dayton forward Judi Aschenbrener put the Flyers on the board right before halftime with her first goal of the season. In the 43rd minute, junior Erin Showalter sent a pass to Aschenbrener on the left flank and she blistered a shot under the crossbar from 15 yards out.
After an evenly played first half, the Flyers dominated the second stanza. UD outshot UR, 5-2 in the final 45 minutes and owned a commanding 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Flyers capitalized on one of those corners when forward Shannon Kuhl headed in the second score early in the half. The home team added another score late (75 minute) for a 3-0 advange.
Richmond junior midfielder Molly Rettig's (Hummelstown, Pa.) penalty kick in the 77th minute would be the final tally of the day.
