Football's Doug Kirchner Earns Atlantic 10 Special Teams Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond senior kicker Doug Kirchner set three single-game records in a 26-0 win against James Madison on Oct. 19 and earned Atlantic 10 Special Teams Player of the Week honors, it was announced today.
The Waldwick, N.J. native established a new Richmond record for field goals in a game (4), most points in a game by a kicker (14) and most field goals attempted (5). Kirchner was 4-for-5 on the evening, succeeding from 24, 22, 20 and 22 and missing from 23. He was 2-for-2 on extra point attempts.
For the season, Kirchner is now 7-for-10 in field goal attempts. He already holds Richmond's career extra point record (78) and is second in career field goals (32) and points by a kicker (174). Kirchner trails Rob Courter (188) in points scored kicking and field goals (41) for a career.
The Spiders (2-4, 2-2 Atlantic 10) return to action at Noon on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Rhode Island in conference action.
