Richmond (1-1) entertains Charlotte (1-1) tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Robins Center.

This is the third meeting between Richmond and Charlotte and the first meeting at the Robins Center. The 49ers bested the Spiders, 62-42, last season (12/8/01) in Charlotte, N.C. It was the third loss in a five-game losing skid for the Spiders. They would win 19 of their next 28 games in 01-02.

The first meeting between the two teams came on December 28, 1973 with Charlotte posting a 112-68 win over UR in the Queen City Classic in Buffalo, N.Y. Richmond first-year coach Jerry Wainwright is 0-2 all-time versus Charlotte. His former club, UNCW, fell to Charlotte during Wainwright's first season (92-79/1994-95) and in the season opener in 1995-96 by a 63-60 score at home.
