
Women's Golf Completes Inaugural Fall Season

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - The University of Richmond women's golf team completed its inaugural fall season with an 11th-place finish at the Pine Needles Invitational in Southern Pines, N.C. The Spiders fired a three-round 1031 (342-347-342) at the par-71 Pine Needles Golf Course.
The event, the fifth of the fall, marked the end of head coach LaRee Sugg and her team's inaugural fall season. The Spiders best finish was eighth at the Princeton Invitational and their lowest single round was a 330 at the Lady Kat Invitational.
Freshman Lauren Ritter led the squad and carded her first sub-80 round when she fired a 86-89-79-254 in Southern Pines. Ritter finished the fall with an 85.5 scoring average in 13 rounds.
Freshman Sarah O'Neil followed a first-round 92 with an 84-86 to shot a 262 this week. She ranked second this fall with an 85.4 scoring average.
Classmates Whitney McComis (85-88-90) and Lesley Monachino (85-86-92) shot matching 230s. Monachino finished the fall with a team-best 85.3 scoring average, and carded the lowest round of the fall, a 78 at the Lady Kat Invitational. McComis competed in all 13 rounds and compiled an 86.8 scoring average.
The fifth freshman Spider, Elizabeth Cushing, shot an 86-93-87-266 and finished the fall with a 90.1 scoring average.
Richmond will compete in four events during the spring season, beginning at the Bradford Creek Intercollegiate, in Greenville, N.C., from March 7-9.
