Spider Basketball Double-Header TONIGHT

University of Richmond, Va. - The University of Richmond men's and women's basketball teams host their second double-header of the season as the women face the Lady Flames of Liberty and the men take on the UAB Blazers. The women's tip-off is scheduled for 5:05 while the men are set to begin at 7:35.
The men face UAB in the third meeting between the two programs. The series is tied at 1-1. Richmond last faced the Blazers a season ago, pulling away with a one-point victory, 60-59. In one of the most memorable games in Robins Center history, UAB defeated UR, 64-61, in the second round of the NIT. The Spiders currently lead the A-10 in field goal percentage (.469) and are ranked second in FG percentage defense (.361).
Richmond's women, now 3-1, return home after participating in the Rutgers' Coca-Cola Classic in Piscataway, N.J. over Thanksgiving weekend. In the opening round, Richmond suffered their first defeat of the season, a 68-65 loss to Northwestern. The Spiders came back to defeat Wagner 73-64 and earn a third-place finish. Tonight's contest marks the 19th meeting between Richmond and Liberty with the Spiders holding a 16-2 advantage. In last season's contest, Amber Goppert's 25 points led Richmond to an 84-71 win over the Lady Flames at the Robins Center (Dec. 17).
