UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond's indoor track and field team begins competition this Saturday, December 7 at the University of Maryland Invite.
The Spiders set 11 program records last year under Head Coaches Steve and Lori Taylor. With all the record-setters returning, Richmond looks to build on their Atlantic 10 finishes of seventh in the men's and third in the women's.
Record-holding seniors Ruth Chege (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Cathleen Campbell (Bala Cynwyd, Pa.), and Sherry Sikora (Succasunna, N.J.) will be looked to continue building on last year's success. The Spiders will also count on long jumper Julee Wilson (Chester Springs, Pa.) and hurdler Ashley Bell (Glen Allen, Va.), who claimed three records. Diane Schreiber (Johnsonburg, Pa.) and Rachel Shrewsbury (Dearborn, Mich.), who also marked their names in the record book, will be expected to contend in the throws. With numerous returnees on the men's side, the Spiders are looking forward to an exciting season.
