UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
The University of Richmond Women's Soccer program has announced that its first annual Alumni Cup Challenge is set for Saturday, April 13, 2002 at First Market Stadium.
Head Coach Peter Albright hopes that the event, which coincides with the university's Pig Roast weekend and the men's soccer alumni game, will draw widespread participation and provide the opportunity for the founding classes of varsity women's soccer to meet the current Spiders.
"We have had so much fun with so many wonderful players over the past six years," said Albright, who's guided the Spiders to five straight winning seasons and an NCAA berth in 2000. "We are really excited about getting everyone back together to catch up and play some soccer. I think that there is going to be some great competition out on the field."
Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. Refreshments will be provided immediately following the presentation of the trophy. All former team members are invited and encouraged to attend. Please e-mail your R.S.V.P. to Assistant Coach Brianne Weaver.
