Tim Stauffer Earns Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond sophomore Tim Stauffer earned the inaugural Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week honor for the 2002 season after throwing two complete-game victories this week.
The Saratoga Springs, N.Y. native compiled a 0.50 ERA in 18.0 innings in wins at VCU (March 6) and North Carolina State (March 10). He allowed only 10 hits and struck out 19 opposing batters.
The right-hander set down a career-high 13 batters in Richmond's 4-2 win against the Wolfpack. He allowed three hits and two runs, none earned, in his fourth consecutive complete game. Earlier in the week, Stauffer carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning of a 2-1 win at VCU. He allowed seven hits and one earned run while striking out six.
Stauffer is 5-0 on the season and his ERA stands at 1.05 after 43.0 innings. He leads the team with 31 strikeouts, while holding the opposition to a .187 batting average.
The Spiders (12-1) began the 2002 season by winning their first 10 games, tying a school record for the best all-time start (1947). Richmond returns to action at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13 when it hosts William & Mary.
NOTE: The University of Richmond received 21 votes in the March 11 Baseball Weekly/USA Today College Baseball Coaches poll. That total ranks them 35th in the nation.
