PITTSBURGH (AP) - Reggie Brown scored 19 points and was one of five players in double figures as Richmond beat undermanned Duquesne 83-57 to end the Atlantic 10 regular season on Saturday night.
Duquesne suspended three players for the game, starting guards Kevin Forney and Jamal Hunter and forward Brad Midgley, who averages 22 minutes per game. Coach Danny Nee said the players violated curfew.
The result gave Richmond (17-12, 11-5) a first-round bye in the conference tournament.
The loss placed Duquesne (9-18, 4-12) last in its division for the seventh consecutive year.
The Spiders, who had been last in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage at 29.5 percent, made 18 of their 36 attempts. They came within one of the conference record for 3-pointers made en route to a season high for points. Temple made 19 3-point shots in a 1992 game and St. Bonaventure matched the record earlier this season.
Richmond also set school records for 3-point shots attempted and made.
Brown had six rebounds and six assists. Scott Ungerer scored 16 points, Jeff Myers had 14 and Patrick O'Malley added 11.
Wayne Smith had 25 points and nine rebounds in his final home game for Duquesne. Tyler Bluemling had 14 points and Jon Pawlak scored 10.
Duquesne had seven scholarship players available for the game and one, starting forward Aaron Lovelace, was hobbled by a recurrence of a foot injury.
Richmond pulled away in the first half with a 25-1 run and led 40-23 at halftime.
The Dukes finished the regular season with four losses in five games. They will face St. Bonaventure Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the Atlantic 10 tournament in Philadelphia.
