UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- A cluster of the nation's elite track & field programs and a handful of individual competitors gathered at Paul Deer Track in Raleigh, N.C. for the annual Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State University.
Student-athletes from all over the country ascended on Raleigh to compare themselves in one of the best outdoor meets of the season. The Spiders may not have garnered many high-place finishes but they worked hard to represent their school and their program.
The highlight on the women's side was the 5,000 meter run where both Lyndsey Webber and Sarah Taylor set season-best times. Webber finished the race in 17:52.40, a team low this outdoor season, and Taylor crossed in 18:03.05.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team buried its previous mark with an outstanding race. The Spiders ran the event in 3:58.87, more than six seconds better than their previous mark.
For the men, Matt Hannay ran his top time in the 800 meters when he crossed the line in 15:50.08.
