Soccers Set To Keep Winning Streak Alive

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.-The University of Richmond men's and women's soccer teams are coming off a shutout weekend against Atlantic 10 opponents Xavier on Oct. 17th and Dayton on Oct.19th. Unbeaten in conference action, the men's soccer team is 3-0-3 and 6-4-4 overall, while the women's squad is 5-1-1 in the conference and 7-6-2 overall.
Richmond's win over #8 Dayton was the second time this season the men's team was victorious over a ranked opponent, the first against then 17th-ranked Coastal Carolina, 2-1, on Sept. 13th. Prior to the fall, Dayton was undefeated in A-10 play.
Sophomore Colin Vint (Fairfax, Va.) leads the men in goals with six after scoring both of the game-winners this past weekend and is currently ranked third in goals in the A-10. Vint earned conference Co-Player of the Week accolades after continuing his four-game goal scoring streak.
With shutouts over Xavier, 1-0, and #8 Dayton, 1-0, senior goalkeeper Mike Nwaneri (Maplewood, N.J.) tallied his eleventh-career and fifth shutout of the season. Nwaneri is ranked third in the A-10 conference and second in the South Atlantic Region with 75 saves.
Atlantic 10 Co-Performer of the Week senior Megan Cox (Raleigh, N.C.) led the Spiders to their wins over Xavier, 2-0, and Dayton, 1-0, as the women's squad handed both of their opponents their first conference shutouts of the season. With 59 saves this season, Cox registered her fourteenth-career shutout and moved into first place for shutouts in the conference statistics.
After setting a program-mark for five games with one goal, freshman Brooke Binswanger leads Richmond with 12 points off six goals. Seventh with 39 shots in the league, Binswanger tops off the Spiders' offensive attack.
Fourth overall in the conference, the men's soccer team plays on the road this weekend, against Temple at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24th and then face Saint Joseph's at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26th.
The women's squad is second overall in the conference and hosts Temple at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24th and Saint Joseph's at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26th in their last home game of the season.
