Women's Soccer Downs Owls, 2-0

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.-Senior Samantha Honig (Manassas, Va.) secured her first shutout of the season, tonight, in the University of Richmond women's soccer battle against Temple, 2-0, on senior night. The Spiders improve to 8-6-2 overall and 6-1-1 in the conference, while the Owls fall to 3-12-1 overall and a conference mark of 1-7-0.
Richmond's offensive attack started in the 27th minute when Brooke Binswanger (Memphis, Tenn.) scored the initial goal off passes from Olina Vidarsdottir (Grindavik, Iceland) and Dani Amarant (Danville, Calif.). The second goal of the game was netted by Vidarsdottir at the 54:26 mark to secure the win.
Richmond controlled the game by outshooting the Owls 26-1. Honig registered one save, while Temple goalie Jackie Mauro tallied 14.
The Spiders are back at First Market Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 26th at 1 p.m. against Saint Joseph's.
