Women's Soccer Posts Fourth Consecutive Shutout

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.-Sophomore Annette Isham (Denver, Colo.) scored her first goal of the season as the University of Richmond women's soccer team defeated Saint Joseph's, 3-0, today at First Market Stadium to snap the Hawks three game-winning streak. The win improves Richmond's conference mark to 7-1-1 and 9-6-2 overall, while Saint Joseph's falls to 5-4-0 in A-10 play and 9-6-2 overall.
The Spiders' first goal of the game came in the 16th minute after Isham converted off passes from junior Whitney Sikes (Charlotte, N.C.) and freshman Kelsey Blank (San Mateo, Calif.) to lead the team into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.
In the second half, Richmond held the Hawks to zero shots and controlled the tempo of the game. Sikes received a pass from senior Edda Gardarsdottir (Reyjavik, Iceland) at the 75:47 mark and netted the second goal for the Spiders. Freshman Brooke Binswanger (Memphis Tenn.) tallied her eighth goal of the season off a pass from junior Olina Vidarsdottir (Grindavik, Iceland) to cap off the 3-0 victory.
Richmond outshot Saint Joseph's 15-4. Senior goalkeeper Megan Cox tallied two saves in her sixth shutout of the season, while Hawk goalie Nicole Dienna registered three.
The Spiders face La Salle at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 31st.
