Women's Soccer Celebrates Senior's Night

University of Richmond, Va.--Seven seniors from the University of Richmond women's soccer team will be honored on Friday, October 24th at First Market Stadium in recognition of senior day. The pre-game ceremony will mark the accomplishments and dedication of the student-athletes.
A goalkeeper from Raleigh, N.C ...#1 Megan Cox Megan has, consecutively, started 36 of the last 40 games...coming back in her career, she has tallied 163 saves and 15 shutouts...she leads the league with five shutouts this season and is third in the league with a 1.04 GAA...in 2002, Cox was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Championship team.
A back from Reykjavik, Iceland ...#4 Edda Gardarsdottir Edda has started 13 games this season and 66 of 70 in her career...this season, she scored two goals against Rhode Island and has tallied one assist in four games...she leads the team in game-winners with two and is second in goals with three...Gardarsdottir has accumulated eleven goals, 17 assists, 39 points throughout her career...she was All-Atlantic 10 first team selection in 2001 and 02 and a first team Mid-Atlantic Region honoree in 2002 and an All American third team selection.
A goalie from Manassas, Va ...#00 Samantha Honig Samantha has seen action in nine games while starting in two...in her career she has played over 314:47 minutes and allowed zero goals with 16 saves...she posted a shutout against St. Joseph's in 2002...in addition she saw action as a defender in 2001.
A forward from Poland, Ohio...#3 Jessica Marino Jessica redshirted this season but has played in 61 contests earning a start in 16...coming back she has accumulated 10 goals and 7 assists for 27 points...in 2002, she scored six goals and she was named to the JMU/Comfort Inn All-Tournament team.
A back from Middletown, Md...#21 Anne Rieser Ann is a current team captain that has started all 15 games this season, earning 74 starts in 77 contests...she has tallied four goals and two assists for 10 points as a Spider...in 2002 she earned Mid-Atlantic Region and Atlantic 10 second team honors.
A midfielder from Hummelstown, Pa...#6 Molly Rettig Molly has started 47 of 78 games including seven this season...has scored 17 goals and recorded 14 assists...tallied four game-winning goals, including this year's against VCU on Oct. 8th and in back-to-back wins during the 2002 season...registered a game-high two assists against New Hampshire this year.
A midfielder from Chapel Hill, N.C...#11 Bethany Shewmaker Bethany has started 14 games this season for a total of 51 starts in 65 contests...earlier this season, she scored against Virginia to end their 417 minute shutout streak...has tallied a career three goals and three assists...was named to the Wachovia Challenge and the JMU/Comfort Inn Invitational All Tournament teams in 2002.
